A Digest of Rhygyfarch's Life of Saint David
44 - 48) David went with Padarn and Teilo to Jerusalem.
David was given the apostolic gift of tongues when they arrived in the city. An angel had told the patriarch to consecrate them bishops, and had prepared seats of great honour for them: and he elevated David to be an archbishop. 'Go out to preach to the Jews,' the patriarch told them, and they obeyed with success. Then he gave gifts to David: an altar, a miraculous bell and staff, and a gold cloak. The other saints were given gifts too, and the gifts were carried home by angels; David received his at Llangyfelach.
