The Creepiest Children's Cereals Of All Time (PICTURES)

May 30, 2010

We all remember Count Chocula, Boo Berry, and even Franken Berry, but those ghostly brands have nothing on these creepy kids' cereals. From "slime" flavored puffs that turn milk green, to the creepiest mascots you've ever seen (that clown really will haunt us in our sleep), we wouldn't recommend giving these to any child. Unless, of course, you want them running around saying they had "Kiddo Balls" for breakfast. In that case, you go right ahead.

Michelle Obama In Mexico On Thursday: Fruit Salad, A White Suit & 12 Stylish Students (PHOTOS, POLL)

*SLIDESHOW AND POOL REPORTS BEING UPDATED THROUGHOUT THE DAY. KEEP CHECKING BACK*

When Michelle Obama had breakfast with twelve student leaders in Mexico City on Thursday morning, she traded the bold colors and prints she had been wearing until now for an understated white suit. In fact, it was the student leaders she met who stole the style spotlight, in some cases wearing vibrant patterns native to the cultures they were representing. One medical student even wore a dress that was a nod to Michelle's inauguration gown. Check it out.

Punished For Being Awesome? The Most Ridiculous Detention Slips Of All Time (PICTURES)

April 15, 2010

Kids are great. They're always saying ridiculous things or using Firefox as their primary browser. Oh kids! A lot of them get in trouble for what their teacher can only describe as "nonsense," but we're shocked that they can receive punishment for being awesome. Because if these detention slips are any indication, these kids should be honored.

Robert L. Borosage: Was Bernie Madoff the Exception or the Rule?

2010-04-14-rubin.jpg

AP

Robert L. Borosage: Were the big banks all knowingly running Ponzi schemes? That's the question that arises from the stunning hearings held this week by the Senate Permanent Committee on Investigations, chaired by Senator Carl Levin, on the collapse of Washington Mutual, the largest thrift failure in the U.S. Faced with looking like fools or knaves, the barons of the big banks -- from Robert Rubin to Lloyd Blankfein to WaMu's Kerry Killinger -- have chosen, not surprisingly, the fool. Joshua Kors: When the Army Uses "Enhanced Interrogation" on an American Soldier

I had been covering veterans' issues for several years and thought I'd developed a thick skin. But the pain on the other end of the telephone line as Sergeant Chuck Luther told me his story was difficult to stomach.

Erica Jong: Oprah, Kitty and Me

When Kitty Kelley decided to write about Oprah it was out of admiration. But guardedness can backfire, and Oprah's attempt to be self-protective may have pissed people off.

John Kerry: Net Neutrality Needs Your Help Today

Today, there's a vital hearing in the Senate Commerce Committee, and I need your help. We need to show the telecom companies that we're going to fight even harder to make sure the Internet stays in the hands of the American people.

Dan Collins: Judge Jed Rakoff Belongs on the Supreme Court

This is the right time for a Supreme Court justice whose strong suit is securities law, and whose history shows he's not afraid to put that enormous expertise to use on the side of the people.

Cenk Uygur: Discovery Channel Insider: Sarah Palin's Show Is "a New All Time Low for Discovery"

According to an inside source at Discovery Channel, people who viewed the promo for Sarah Palin's new show were "rolling their eyes, snickering, and even laughing."

Stand-up comedy is an art, both difficult to learn and agonizing to perfect. That's why it's so disheartening when politicians, celebrities, or media personalities think that just because they're well known that they can rock the mic. Sure, they may get laughs, but quality comedy is usually traded for cheap jabs at rivals or flat observations about airline food. The reality? Just because your famous doesn't mean you can bring down the house.

Michelle Obama vs. Margarita Zavala: FASHION FACE-OFF IN MEXICO! (PHOTOS, POLL)

April 14, 2010
Following a stunning arrival in Mexico wearing a floral frock late Tuesday night, Michelle Obama met with Mexican First Lady Margarita Zavala for 45 minutes on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Obama continued her vibrant dress theme by wearing a printed yellow wrap dress (pooler Robin Givhan thinks it might be Diane von Furstenberg) with yellow flats, while Mrs. Zavala wore her one of signature shawls, this one in ivory and with matching pumps.

These cross-stitch patterns are not for the faint of heart. Trust us when we tell you, these aren't the kinds of crafts you'd see in your grandmother's living room (unless, of course, you have a total badass for a grandma, in which case a congratulations are in order). Anyway, strap on your seat belt and prepare to get punched in the face with knitting utensils.

Children don't care about politics; in fact, the more they know, they more bored they become. But politicians are constantly trying to use them show they have a soft side, either by kissing them campaign rallies or visiting their schools to read Dr. Seuss books. This little conundrum has provided for some hilarious tantrums and "oh, brother" looks from children, while the politicos try their best to keep it cool (unless you're John McCain, then you just throw back your head and laugh maniacally).
