Did English immigration benefit Britain; it brought in a new language & culture, but was it good for Wales? It brought in Chaucer & Shakespeare, but did it benefit the locals? The grammar school system thought it did, but then we lost Dafydd ap Gwilym, although it did open us up to Dylan Thomas!

I just had a telephone call from someone wanting to watch the Slovakia-England match next Monday; sorry but here it will be the Russia-Cymru/Wales match.

Thursday 3pm Cymru/Wales v Lloegr/Germany, sorry Normandy, sorry England; It's all this immigration, it get's me confused.

Why should immigration be a problem; nobody's suffered mass immigration more than the Welsh, a people whose natural language has been subjected to such an attack that many Welsh believe the enforced language to be their own! We know the adage about a pebble thrown into a pond, the Pagan Germans threw rocks, but eventually they settled down to become the Christian England we all know and love, immigrants originally but accepted since. Of course that's not the whole story because only a hundred years after England was created they had to accept their own immigrants from Normandy, another rock in the pool, until it in turn settled down and was forcefully accepted by the non-native Germanics and eventually the native Welsh. We are now in Europe, personally I've been European since my first memories in Cymru/Wales, I 've never understood English or whomever referring to Europe as a different entity. Immigration is a part of life, always has been, so long as the pond after the pebble is thrown is allowed to return to its previous normal state acceptable to all after the initial disruption.

Have you noticed that when it's good it's English, but in Marseille there's a problem with the British?. In Bordeaux the Welsh are singing Calon Lan and drinking merrily with the Slovaks and the local French

There's going to be fun in Bordeaux tonight

I don't know where to start other than at the beginning of the last couple of weeks; my Rhondda Friends, my new Caerfyrddin friends, the cyclists who were one month on the road coming up from Pisa, the Citroen D.S' on a rally, the coachload of Bretons & Welsh with the legendary Peter Hughes Griffiths organised from Lesneven, the Germans who drank the pints and bought a load of pub t(ee)-shirts, and now I've just received a message from an old friend and colleague who's coming to Gouesnou this week from Aberhonddu/Brecon; I hope that he will be able to find time to come here, I know how these twinnings are so tightly worked. I was lucky last week to be on the Caerfyrddin/Lesneven programme and last year on the Caernarfon/Landere(au) itinerary.

Bit of a problem because it's a long way from here, about an hour. The Welsh team is 2 hours, The rugby not so long ago was two and a half hours In Naoned/Nantes, after all the promises no-one turned up because they didn't realise how big Breizh/Bretagne/Brittany is!
I forgot about the Welsh language ecologist group coach with Al and Derec/Christine.

Tonight at 20:40 Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid

Thursday, 26 May 2016

Steve & Julie from South Wales arrived n the village this morning, hopefully they'll be calling in for a natter & a drink soon, they may even be bringing me a drink from Brains or one of our newer micro-breweries, or not, whilst tomorrow I'll be expecting a coachload of Caerfyrddin/Lesneven people. I've copied two photos of Meinir Llwyd that I took in Glansefin more than 40 years ago, for Peter Hughes Griffiths.

The actual situation is that I'm watching the Roland Garros French Tennis championship, part of the International Grand Slam Tournaments. Murray is risking things with his 5 setters. The Citroens came here Monday afternoon having come from Perros Guirec before driving back. Today the cyclists from Gt. Britain called in on their way back home from Pisa (a months journey) before sleeping tonight at Huelgoat en route de Roscoff/Plymouth.

Tuesday, 24 May 2016

Just watched 'The Brecon Beacons With Iolo Williams' on BBC 4: It's incredible that this piece of nature is on our doorstep, yet how many of us know and value it?

Sunday, 22 May 2016

Great atmosphere and plenty of people for the concert Friday evening; two days ago I had a visit from some proud Plaid Cymru supporters from The Rhondda, today I have a group of Plaid activists from Llanllwni in Sir Gaerfyrddin, they've  just gone off for a meal but will be back later; Any messages?

Friday, 20 May 2016

On Wednesday August 3rd I will be 65 years old. I am not doing/organising a formal celebration but a birthday is a birthday, so if anyone turns up we can have a drink together.

Thursday, 19 May 2016

5 out of the 7 founding fathers of Brittany were born in Wales; St. Illtud, the founder of the first university in Gt. Britain was born in Brittany; St. Patrick was born in Wales, We were all Welsh (German name) or Britons/Bretons (Nom Gallois) so where do the Irish come in to the argument? It's because of a loss of collective memory whereby the Welsh/Bretons for 10 centuries we spoke the same language, although for the French we are English whereas the Irish are Celts ipso facto the the Breton/Welsh saints have suddenly become Irish even thjough the Welsh army crossed the Channel to defend Rome against the Visigoths, we lost, were invaded by the Irish/Scots then consequently invited the Germans to help us. Now we know where stand. I saw Leanne Wood on the television the other day replying to a very unsympathetic interviewer/journalist, I'm not saying necessarily that it was a competition but given the questions she was posed she won hands down. While I'm there I'm sorry that my friend Lindsay won't be there to represent us anymore; I remember the days that we began together with Emrys in Merthyr and Syd in Rhymni.

Wednesday, 18 May 2016

I had the confirmation today that a Lesneven/Caerfyrddin coachload will be visiting my pub the early afternoon of Fri. May 27.

Seville v Liverpool at/à 20h45

Sunday, 15 May 2016

Thought I'd mention that the tips of my iris buds are beginning to show their colours, yellow & blue; also that yesterday was easily the best day of the year so far. Today is more or less back to normal but still not too bad; never two consecutive days the same, it's also Whitsun weekend an occasion that does bring more customers coming out for a bank holiday drive, bikers & families.

Tuesday, 10 May 2016

You won't believe this, I'm watching 'Match of ze day' on French television!
