History being subjective, two opposing sides reading and reporting different versions of the same thing, I thought I'd show you a map of the early middle ages illustrating the expansionism of the Plantagenets of Anjou, the French family of Richard the Lionheart, that greatest of 'English' Kings; although they ruled England, they held more land in their homeland of France than the French King himself. North, south and west, even extending to the eastern border, was Plantagenet, the English weren't in France as we are told, England was ruled by the French, rivals, but technically vassals of the King of France, French Anjevin against French Capetian, this is why Richard was imprisoned on his return from the crusades by allies of the Capetians.
