Brittany not Paris

I just came back from Carhaix where all the signs are either in Breton or are bi-lingual Breton/French, I emphasised that because for many newcomers, bi-lingual means French/English, however, on my return to Plouye the brand new street signs, that means all street signs because we never had any before, glared out at me, they are all monolingual French, I am very disappointed that our elected representives in the village don't seem to know where they live, and that they are going against the tide of the politico-cultural Brittany of today; by the way I now live at No. 5, rue des primevères!

To ?

I like your ears,
I like your eyes,
I like your nose,
I like your clothes,
I like your hair,
I like your mouth,
I like your teeth,
But underneath
who knows?

After the fall

More than nine days on, still can't use the skipping rope, my shoulder & ribs hurt too much.

Rossiter & Barker, Brilliant

I'm watching 'Rising Damp'; Leonard Rossiter would have been in a class of his own if it wasn't for Ronnie Barker, the two of them were brilliant and a huge loss to British comedy. Coincidentally they both worked with Richard Beckinsale who died far too young but  has left a legacy in hollywood in the form of his beautiful daughter Kate. I'm afraid I don't follow public opinion in regards to Morecombe & Wise, I didn't find them funny enough to laugh, too childish in my humble opinion.

History being subjective, two opposing sides reading and reporting different versions of the same thing, I thought I'd show you a map of the early middle ages illustrating the expansionism of the Plantagenets of Anjou, the French family of Richard the Lionheart, that greatest of 'English' Kings; although they ruled England, they held more land in their homeland of France than the French King himself. North, south and west, even extending to the eastern border, was Plantagenet, the English weren't in France as we are told, England was ruled by the French, rivals, but technically vassals of the King of France, French Anjevin against French Capetian, this is why Richard was imprisoned on his return from the crusades by allies of the Capetians.

To Michael Chappel: Fight off Integration

When Britain split, with people from South Wales and the West Country moving to the Armorican peninsula to form a new Britain across the channel, they brought with them the names Devon & Cornwall, of course ' Cornwall is only the English version of 'Kernow'; Cernyw in Cymraeg/Welsh, Kerne(w) in Breton and 'Cornouaille' in French; Kernow in the Breton language is 'Kerne Veur', or Great Cornwall, so the island became 'Breizh Veur' or 'Great Britain'. Many years ago Napoleon reorganized French government thereby stripping us of our 'Cornwall, we are now integrated into the modern 'Départments' of Finistere & Cotes d'Armor, although it still exists in folklore, as someone from 'Cornwall' is understood to have distinctive personality traits to someone else from 'Tregor' or 'Leon'. It aso exists within the church dioceses, I have lists of every church & chapel bell tower in the three historic Regions. Anyway to the point, stay in there Mike, we are with you, Kernow is your Cymru, it is unique and you have every right to cherish it, fight off integration.
