Devolving Decisions Domestically- (Our) Land, (Our) Liberty (to) Legislate.

Does anyone remember the catastrophic, cataclysmic break up of Scandinavia? no? not surprising, it all evolved in such a way that nobody looks back on it happening. Scandinavia is perhaps the closest we can get to the U.K. as a political model except that it was based on a common Viking culture; Historically, instead of England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales & Cornwall, they have Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland & Iceland. Finland was the first to go, leaving Sweden in 1809, but that was due to Russian intervention; In 1814 Denmark ceded Norway to Sweden, before that there was a United Kingdom of Denmark & Norway. Iceland which was once a Norwegian territory then Danish, was proclaimed a republic in 1944. Finland eventually became an independent State in 1918 although the 1919 constitution still gave equality to the Swedish Language. From the 1850s on in Norway there was pressure to introduce the vernacular as the official Language instead of the bureaucrats heavily Danish influenced tongue, this within the Union with Sweden which was dissolved in 1905. These days we think of the Scandinavian Countries in terms of Sovereign States, but as we have seen it wasn't always that way. In conclusion, if they could disentangle their way peacefully out of that mire, I don't see any barriers to a bit of legislative democracy in the United Kingdom of Gt. Britain & Northern Ireland.
