Obtuseness

To the person complaining to Lleuwen Steffan on MySpace of having left one of her concerts feeling insulted and disappointed; translations from the original text are sometimes done when one song in an otherwise monolingual repertoire is foreign to the audience, but that didn't apply in this case, it was in North Wales and through the medium of Welsh, the everyday language of the majority involved. Although he says that it was publicised as bi-lingual, this would have been very unusual as concerts often encompass a multi-cultural programme: it could have made sense for Lleuwen to have included a song in Breton, as she is in the process of learning the language, and then given a summary in Welsh for the benefit of the audience, and she did say some words in Breton as a polite gesture of welcome to a few of her Armorican fans. He was also under the misapprehension that he was attending a jazz concert, Lleuwen doesn't classify her music, leaving the boundaries open. In his disappointment, this isn't jazz, and she's not even speaking English, it seems to me that realizing his error, all considerations based on art got jettisoned. To feel insulted that English was not used by someone who rarely has need for it and feels far more at ease with her first language is an insult in itself and demonstrates a certain obtuseness on his part, to publicise the fact on MySpace, whilst at the same time derogating the actions and performance of the artiste is an indication of questionable character.
