HARRI WEBB.
Rampage & Revel
The Raid of Ifor Bach
Dodging through the woodlands,
Striking in the dark
Who has scaled the battlements
Before the dogs can bark?
Ifor of Senghennydd
Is paying a late call
And the Norman lord of Cardiff
Is in the Welshman's thrall.
Of no avail his fortress
Nor all his Norman pride
He's wakened in a hurry
And he's taken for a ride.
Ifor of Senghennydd
Has dropped in late at night
And the Norman lord must go with him
Until he needs his right.
Back up to the mountains
Where the Cymry still are free
The Norman and his lady
Are treated courteously.
But they can't go back to Cardiff
Till they yield the Welshman's claim
And Ifor of Senghennydd
Has won a glorious name.
