HARRI WEBB
Three Men of the Sea
l
I am Edgar Evans of Rhossili, seafaring my lot,
Great strength my heritage. I dared the ice with Scott.
Because I could not disgrace the land of my birth
I lie now in the loneliest grave on earth.
ll
I am the cox'n of any lifeboat
From the Mumbles to Moelfre, we have our job to do,
Put out whatever the weather, come back if we can,
And if we can't there'll always be another crew.
lll
I am an old Cape-Horner, perhaps by now the last
Of any that went aloft in the howling blast.
I stay indoors mostly, well wrapped up, my blood is thinned,
And I don't very much like going out in the wind.
